CLASS RULES AND PROCEDURES
The following are the Rules and Procedures that are designed to assure the maintenance of a strong learning environment within the classroom. Please familiarize yourself with these points:
I. ATTENDANCE
The District policy regarding attendance will be followed in the class. Please refer to the information listed in the Student Agenda. Please pay particular attention to your rights and obligations regarding make-up work when you are absent. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT WORK YOU MISSED DURING YOUR ABSENCE. You can find this information a couple of ways:
1. Ask Mr. Barrick before and after the class starts.
2. Check the Assignments Link on M. Barrick’s Webpage/ or Check the Aeries page
3. Ask a classmate what work you may have missed.
4. Email Mr. Barrick at: [email protected]
II. CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR
This is a French only class. Do not speak any other language in class. It is important that you follow this rule. While it may be frustrating to you, your comprehension and ability to speak French will be greatly increased IF you refrain from speaking your home language.
Every week, you will receive participation/preparedness points. If you speak French, you will receive extra credit points (3 pts for speaking French, 0 points for not speaking) and you will lose 3 pts for speaking a language other than French. Questions in English during class can be posted on the “ le Parking”, or posted on the electronic 'parking'
DO s
1. Be reasonable, respectable and kind.
2. Be on time and on task.
3. Be prepared arriving in class with all the materials you need for class (textbook, workbooks, interactive notebooks, agendas, writing utensils, etc.
4. Be daring with the use of FRENCH in the classroom. As the maxim goes PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
5. Use the ‘Passport’ for leaving class or for turning-in late assignments ( 3 per semester).
DON'T S
1. Please do not wear sunglasses in class.
2. Please do not apply or check your make-up while in class. You can wait for the bell to ring before you start your grooming.
3. Food or Drink may not be consumed in class.
4. Please do not dispose of gum under the desks. In the case of formal presentation please do not chew gum.
5. Please do not use inappropriate language. Derogatory remarks about a classmate’s RACE, GENDER, RELIGION, or perceived SEXUAL ORIENTATION will be considered disruptive to the learning environment of the classroom; the offending student will receive a referral for such behavior.
III. MATERIALS / TECHNOLOGY
A. All students must arrive in class with their chromebooks. These should be charged and ready to be used.
1. If the device is not functional due to it not being charged, the student will not receive participation credit for the class period.
2. Persistent violation of this policy will result in a referral to the Intervention Center.
B. Students will not be permitted to charge their chromebooks in class. If the need to charge the devices arises, the student will need to charge them in the Library or other designated place, at breaks or during lunch.
C. Students may not access any inappropriate websites, or apps during class time. Violation of this policy will result in loss of participation points and possible referral to Intervention Center.
D. Students will be able to access the textbook online using log-in information provided by the Instructor.
1. There will be a class set of the text book in the classroom should the student not have their chromebook or if their device is not functional.
